Monthly Favorites: April

I was on the hunt for new shampoo and conditioner because I have been shedding like crazy lately. I seriously leave a trail of hair where I walk. Think I'm exxagerating? Ask my husband.

One day we were discussing this and the husband suggested I switch products. Duh. Why didn't I think of that? I had been using the Clear Scalp and Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. It was working great and I liked the price tag in comparison to my previous Redken Shampoo. But, perhaps, I needed a change.

I went to the JCP salon, where I usually purchase my high end shampoos and conditioners, and came across a two liter pack of the Matrix Biolage set. Much to my surprise, it was on sale for $14.99. Can we say steal? Seriously, after one use my hair was so soft! Loved it so much I may have gone back and bought another set. You really can't beat that price.

I may have been overindulging on Easter Candy. The husband got me an Easter basket filled with said goodies and I have been satisfying my sweet tooth on an hourly basis. That chocolate bunny had no survival chance against me. Dentist wasn't too happy with my at my appointment that I stupidly scheduled at the end of the month.

BBW recently had a sale on these body creams for $5. I was in need of lotion for my night stand and figured I would take advantage of the sale. Plus I like the body creams over the lotions, because they are thicker and I feel more moisturizing. I purchased the Sleep and Stress Relief scents. So far, I've been using the sleep one. I really like the smell.

Earlier this month, these were served at our Life Group and they were so good. You better believe I added this to the cart the following grocery trip. I love these types of foods (ie bagel bites, pizza rolls, etc) but rarely buy them. I blame that on the husband. Well, I am making this a permanent item on the shopping list because they are the perfect meal when we don't have the time to make a meal. Or let's face it, when I am feeling lazy and don't want to cook, which is practically always.

There you have my faves of the month.

Addie Mae.

I am happy to introduce to you all the newest addition to our familia.

Miss Addie Mae.

(Stole this picture from the breeder)

Is she not the most precious pup ever? Aside from Miss Gracie Lou, of course. She is just as adorable.

We picked her up Saturday. Finally got to make the announcement to friends and family. It has been killing us to keep this secret. Not sure why we made it a secret. Just thought it would be surprise everyone I guess.

So, the Mr. and I have been talking about getting another pup for some time now. Mainly for Gracie to have a friend. We knew we wanted another girl. So that they could be sisters etc. Once we were ready to add to our family, we went back and forth with getting another puppy from a breeder or adopting. This honestly was a very tough decision. We originally started looking for possible adoptions. We would come close to adopting, but would just get nervous about health issues etc. Also, being that we have a small dog, we wanted one that would be around the same size. For the most part, I would find a lot of big dogs, which wouldn't work for us. Then if we happen to come across a small dog that was around the 2-3 yr old range, they would go quickly!

Finally, we decided, it would be best to get another puppy from the breeder we got Gracie from. At the beginning of this year, the breeder posted on her Facebook page that they would be breeding one of her dogs and expected a litter around late March timeline. We connected with her to let her know our interest. When the pups were born we put a deposit down and chose the chocolate dapple, which I love her color.

What's even funnier is that Gracie and Addie are actually half sisters! They share the same father. He gets around apparently. Haha.

Also, Gracie has been doing great with her. I was holding my breath that she would embrace her and not be aggressive. Seriously, Gracie was and is being a pro. Even sharing her toys with her. She has been wanting to play with her but tends to get a little too hyper and doesn't realize her size in comparison to Addie. She will body slam her and then we have to separate them. But don't worry about Addie, she knows how to hold her own. She has gotten a few nips in there.

Here are some more pics I've taken over the weekend. I think I have taken like 50 and only like 5 turned out clear. She is not a fan of picture taking. Gonna have to change that real quick.

Style: Old Navy Tees

If I haven't declared this already, I love Old Navy.

This weekend Old Navy had 30% off everything in store sale going on. I stopped by to see if there was anything I could get for an Easter outfit and ended up leaving with three graphic tees. Figures. I mean, I have been in need of new tees, so I wasn't completely off with the shopping. Also, I am a big fan of Old Navy tees. Decent quality for the price you pay.

I was able to locate two of the three I purchased online.
The third tee is grey and has a black heart and the word forever. Apparently I like grey.

The blue and white one was on display at the entrance of the store and it caught my eye. Has a very costal feel to me which I like. And the grey, I just liked that quote. Great reminder.

Easter Festivities.

This past weekend we were busy little bees prepping for the Easter celebration we were planning for our church. We were hosting the second annual Easter Egg Hunt in-between church services for the kiddos and refreshments for the families.

Earlier that week, I went to a Miss Val's house and, along with several ladies, we stuffed a ridiculous amount of Easter eggs. We actually ran out of candy before eggs.

Then Saturday, I was running around like a mad woman trying to find decor for the day. My original intentiones were to get balloons for the walkway to the Pavilion and flowers for the tables. Keep it simple and low cost. We attend a small church and don't have a grand budget for events.. Challenges me to think outside the box most times. Yes, well, the locations I went to for flowers had crappy ones. Then Publix, which is typically our go to for balloons, was closed on Sunday. I was striking out right and left. I felt defeated.

Well to add to this feeling, on Sunday morning I received a call that we were low on our Panera supply and needed to pick up more food. AWESOME.

So we drive to Winn-Dixie to get drinks, and while there I found Lilies for $5.99. SWEET!. Picked up some of those. Then ran to Dunkin Donuts to purchase five dozen donuts. I may have purchased one or two for my breakfast.

Got to church, set up and boom. Easter Celebration complete.

Grand Prize winners received these baskets. Umm, can we talk about how much I loved the purple one?! I want that owl piggy bank!

Photo op with the hubs.

Please excuse the hot mess I was. My hair was on another level. The misty air was bringing out the craziness like no body's business. And because I was running behind that morning, I forgo the eye liner and felt bare with out it.

He, however, looked so handsome :)

Miss Val who helped coordinate the actual Easter Egg Hunt. She's a doll.

Overall, it was a great event. Every one loved it. It's funny how I can feel like I am so unprepared for these events, yet every one thinks they are awesome. Fake it til you make it baby!

A good laugh courtesy of Southwest.

Let me start off by saying that I loathe flying in a plane. I am a hot mess when I fly. No lie. If I can drive to the destination, I will. Even if its 15 plus hours long. Anything to avoid being in the air. I am that person that stares down a flight attendant the second there is any time of turbulence or unusal noise to see their facial expression. If flight attendant is calm, we are good.

Well the past couple times I've flown, I've gone on Southwest. Hello great prices. The first time I flew Southwest, there was an older lady that was doing the announcements and she was the funniest lady ever. I was laughing so much that I for that time, forgot about my anxiety. Of course, that anxiety returned during take off. But it wasn't as bad.

I heard about this video yesterday on the radio while driving to work. They played some snippits from the video and I was cracking up in the car. It's a flight attendant from Southwest crackin' jokes. I searched for the full video on youtube and wanted to share. Enjoy!

Happy Ending.

Our neighborhood Sandhill Cranes recently had babies! True sign that we are in Spring. Love to the see these litttle guys strolling around in our backyard.

Yesterday we had a scary experience with the family.

We live in a community of townhomes, so of course, all dogs must be leashed when outside. Well, leave it up to ignorant neighbors who don't know how to follow rules. Someone let their two big dogs loose. I'm talking one that looks like a german shepard and another one about that same size. Not sure what it is. Needless to say, as I am sitting at the dining room table, I see two dogs just speeding by.

First thing I think of, is the family that just passed by to which I hear them start going nuts. S and I ran out to the back and see birds going nuts and the dogs running around them. My heart sank. They were being aggressive with them, I think, but they are big dogs. Can easily take out one of the babies by playing. At first we had no idea where the dogs came from and then there comes the owner just taking his good old time. Sergio lets him know that there are babies over there that we are concerned about. Clearly didn't phase the guy cause he kept at his turtle speed pace. Can we talk about how much I wanted to pounce on the guy?! Once the dogs took off, again, the family came back our way with only one baby. I was so upset. S tried looking for the other baby but couldn't find it.

Well, I would say a couple hours later, as I am preparing my lunch, I hear the birds make some noise. So I ran to the window and see them coming back from the area they went too and then heard peeping. Low and behold the baby that was missing returned. Family was reunited! That made my day. I still want to punch my neighbor in the face for his stupidty but at least there is a happy ending.

Here is the family after reuniting. So sweet.

Weekend Recap: Poolside. Wedding Planning. Michael Kors haul.

Once again, the plan for this weekend was to relax and rejuvenate. Work has been a little crazy that by Friday, I am in desperate need of rest. I've made it a priority to plan nothing on the weekend, mainly so I can be lazy.

Saturday morning, I caught up on my shows from last week while drinking coffee on the couch. Doesn't get any better than that. Later in the morning, we went out by the pool and enjoyed the weather and sun. It was perfect because we practically had the place to ourselves except one or two other guests.

During the afternoon I treated myself to a pedicure. Then strolled over to Office Depot to make some purchases with the gift card a friend from my previous Finance team gave me as a gift for my promotion. She knows me well. Office supplies make me happy.

In the evening, we ended up going out to dinner with another couple at this Greek restaurant, Acropolis. This is definitely not the place for those with sensitive hearing. The music was on another level. I struggled to even hear my own thoughts and left with a ridiculous head ache.

Sunday, we were on the road early, heading south to look at a wedding venue for my friend's wedding. I was pretty excited to dust off my wedding planner cap and get the show on the road. I couldn't be more happier that my first wedding will be at this gorgeous location!

I took lots of pictures to get ideas. We also discussed where we are going to have the ceremony, reception etc. Ready to start sketching the floor plans!

After viewing the venue, we had lunch at Woody's Pub & Grill which is off the water. I now chuckle when I say the phrase "off the water" because of the discussion between S and I. Inside joke.

Then we went to the mall where I did some damage to my credit card Coach and Michael Kors. However, I justify the purchase with the fact that I always, said I would get myself a new work bag. Well, at coach I found the cutest wallet that at first I as going to get for myself and talked myself out of it. Then I remembered that Mother's Day is next month and it would make the perfect gift for my mom.

So I went ahead and made that purchase. Then I walked over to Michael Kors and bought myself a bag for work and a wristlet. The goal is to downsize my wallet. Tired of carrying a purse that feels like a bowling ball bag!

Can't wait to sport these new babies at work!!

Now, I am finishing off the evening watching The Young Victoria. I love this movie. May do a little cleaning and preparing for the work week. Whatever helps me get through it without losing my mind.

Life lately.

Oh, hi there blog world. It's been a couple weeks.

So the low down on what's gone on this month so far...

We celebrated S's 34th birthday at the beginning of this month. We did two birthday celebrations that week.... that's how we roll. At life group, I had an ice cream cake surprise for him. Dairy Queen Reese's PB Cup Blizzard cake to be exact. It was pretty delicious.

Then on the actual day of his birthday, we went over to his parents house where his mom made him a special birthday dinner. Then we celebrated with another cake, this time a chocolate peanut butter cake courtesy of Publix. See a recurring theme here? The boy loves chocolate and peanut butter. Then his mom made brownies. Needless to say it was a chocolate overload kind of week.

Last weekend, we went over to St. Pete for the Festival of Speed event. Basically a car show of classic cars, exoctic cars and motorcycles. Apparently, this was the eleventh year they've had this event, however its the first time I have ever heard of it. It was nice to look at the cars, however the place was crowded and the parking was a joke. But we did some classic beauties like this one.

Lastly, we got a new washer and dryer. Umm, can we talk about how excited I was? Seriously, when did the change happen that I would be excited about appliances? In my defense, you don't realize how important it is to have a working washer until it breaks down on you. We were out a washer for about two weeks and depended on parents to get our clothes cleaned. So happy to have these puppies!

That is what has gone down the past couple weeks in between keeping very busy with work. Will save that update for another post.

Book Review: The Great Gatsby

(source)
This is the second time I've read this book. The first time I read skimmed through it was in high school, maybe freshmen or sophomore year, for required reading. Back then, I was not into reading. If there were Spark notes for the book, I was more than likely going to read that instead of the book. I wish I wasn't like that and would have read it and appreciated it. But I didn't. My goal is to read all those books that were required reading in high school again and truly enjoy them.
Well fast foward to like last year (?) when the movie came out with Leonardo DiCaprio. When I saw the movie trailer, I was absolutely mesmerized and couldn't wait to see in theaters. I have an absolute love for the 20s, 30s and 40s time periods. My engagement pictures and wedding had a vintaage theme. I tell S all the time, that I should have been born in the time period. When I saw the movie I knew I wanted to buy the movie and really read the book because I know the book is almost always ten times better than the movie. Also, the movie inspired me to having 20s theme for my thirtieth birthday and I can not wait!!

So, when the movie came out on DVD, Target had a promotion going on that you can purchase the Blue Ray and get the book on some discount. I bought the book and added it to the pile of books I plan on reading.

Well, during our vacation to Asheville, I finished reading Knowing Your Value and brought The Great Gatsby to read. Okay, you know how I said it took me months to get through KYV? Yeah I finished The Great Gatsby in like four days. I LOVED it! It may be because as I read it I had a visual from the movie to go along with it. Surprisingly, I thought the movie followed the book pretty closely, outside of Carraway being in an asylum or rehab. That was outside of the book storyline. Gatsby, sigh. Such a hopeless romantic. I can't get over the "old sport" phrase. DiCaprio seriously did an amazing job with that role.

Really the book was great. Not difficult to read. I think like 180 pages long. When I would start reading, I found it hard to stop!

Now I must watch the movie ASAP.
