Read | The Paris Wife

I finished reading this book a couple weeks ago and it gave me a whole new opinion of Ernest Hemingway. Let's be honest, other than knowing that he was a writer and had a home in Key West, I knew very little of him.

The story is from the point of view of Hadley, his first wife. Bless this lady's heart, she did sacrifice quite a whole lot for her love for Ernest. First she moves to a different country so that Ernest can pursue his dreams of being a writer. He did a lot of free lance writing and didn't make a lot of money so they lived in not the greatest part of Paris. When he did receive opportunities to write a story, he would have to travel and be away for long periods of time, leaving her to take care of their son, Bumby.

To top things off, he was quite the womanizer. While he did love Hadley, if that's what you call love, he had eyes for other women. Towards the last third of the book, Ernest meets his lover Pauline and tries to live this love triangle as something normal. Finally, Hadley has enough and ends it with Ernest and starts a new life of her own.

Again, totally blown away to learn about the personal life of Ernest. Quite disappointed really. I would not say this book was on my top reading list. It took me a while to get through it and finally I made the effort to just finish reading the book. It's funny though since I have seen other bloggers state they love this book which is why I chose to read it. I mean, I guess writing and storyline was good, it was just very annoying to me.

Meal Plan | Week 2 of 2016

Here are some pictures from last week's meals. Please excuse the poor lighting.

The zucchini noodle dish was ok. Let's be honest with ourselves... zucchini noodles will never be able to replace the yumminess of pasta. We followed the recipe but I don't think the noodles were cooked long enough. Will note that for next time.

The meatballs were delicious!

I also want to share a pic of a salad I prepared for lunch. Blueberries, strawberries, goat cheese, walnuts and mixed greens. So good!

Here is this week's meal plan:

Meal 1: Mongolian Beef and Broccoli (Skinnytaste Cookbook) with brown rice
Meal 2: Sweet n Spicy Sriracha Glazed Salmon (Skinnytaste Cookbook), Asparagus and brown rice
Meal 3: Zucchini Lasagna (Skinnytaste Cookbook)
Meal 4: Baked Chicken with brussels sprouts

Bunco Ladies Night

Last night I attended my first Bunco game night. I have read about this game from other bloggers but never played, so I was curious to see what the hype was about.

Not gonna lie. When they were explaining the game to everyone, I was completely lost. Once we got started it made sense and we had a blast!

Everyone brought a dish to eat and one of the ladies made the cutest Bunco themed cake pops!

We had so much fun that we have decided to make this a monthly thing!

Currently | January 2016

LISTENING | N'Sync Radio on Pandora. Can we say throwback?! This week has been a little tough getting back into the work grind particularly in the afternoon. When I start to get in my afternoon funk, I will start listening to this play station and start dancing in my seat. It's so funny how music can instantly take you back in time to when that song was current, circa the high school days. Oh to be young again...#oldpeopleproblems

READING | The Paris Wife. Confession. I've been stuck on this book for a while. Over my break, I started it up again and now half way through.

WATCHING | Fixer Upper. I am seriously OBSESSED with this show. Joanna Gaines is a home decorating queen. I absolutely love her style and constantly look her to website and Pinterest boards for home decorating inspiration. The latest episode of their behind the scenes and bloopers has me totally convinced that her and Chip could be best friends with the Mr. and me.

WANTING | Kate Spade Glitter Keds. I have been wanting these beauties for a while now. They are back in stock and I will be getting me a pair of the silver glitter ones.

EATING | Dry roasted nuts. I have been on this kick for snacking on nuts lately (I go through these phases), particularly almonds and cashews. I have to each one of each at the same time. There is really no good explanation as to why other than I can be weird.

DRINKING | I received the best gift ever for Christmas from a sweet friend, a tea infuser mug from Teavana. It is the most darling thing ever and totally something that I would use being the tea drinker that I am. After receiving the mug, I immediately had to go to Teavana to pick up some loose leaf tea. Yes, I realize I can get loose leaf tea anywhere, but I wanted the full Teavana experience. Let me be! One of the teas I chose was the chai tea. It is perfect for evenings when I want to relax.

DOING | Getting my craft on. In my Hello 2016 post, I wrote about some new hobbies I want to take up this year and I've put words into action. I signed up for an intro to hand lettering class that will be in February. Then I hit up Michaels this weekend and stocked up on painting and jewelry making essentials. Super excited to get started!

Meal Plan | Week 1 of 2016

With the holidays and mini-getaways, I definitely indulged in some yummy foods and pretended that calories/cards didn't exist! Fortunately, I didn't really gain any weight (clothes still fit the same), but I don't want to get lazy.

Time to get back to my clean eating and workout routine. Here is the meal plan for the first week of 2016!

Meal 1 : Chicken Cordon Bleu Meatballs with Lemon Roasted Asparagus (Skinny Taste Cookbook)
Meal 3 : Naked Cheeseburger, Steamed Broccoli, and Sweet Potato Waffle Fries
Meal 4: "Un-stuffed" Cabbage Soup (Skinny Taste Cookbook)

The Mr. made the meatballs today and they look delicious! I can't wait to have that meal this week.

I have been wanting to try zucchini noodles for the longest time but didn't have the cooking tool to make the noodles. The Mr. ended up getting a Veggetti for his Secret Santa gift at work. Random gift but perfect for us!

The soup is actually leftovers from last week. The recipe made a huge amount, so we froze half of it to use at a later time. It's really good and quite perfect for this cooler weather we are having here in FL.

Hello 2016.

While I am not happy to say good bye to all the holiday festivities, I am eager to start this year and make it a good one!

Some fun hobbies I would like to start this year are:

Take calligraphy lessons. I have a thing for pretty writing.

Make jewelry. My first project will be bead bangles!

Canvas painting.

Who knows, maybe one of these will lead to a side business for me.

Oh, I'm also excited that we will be Disney pass holders again! I have been wanting to get passes again for some time now. I can't wait to go the parks and let our inner kids come out!

Cheers to 2016!
