Poolside & Swimwear.

This weekend was all about relaxing. Last week was a very stressful and emotional week which is not good for my health. I was pretty much a hermit all weekend. Just spent time with the Mr. and furbabies. We did a little World Cup watching, cleaning, relaxing, grocery shopping, and even went to the pool.

We were only there for like 30 minutes because the Florida summer afternoon storms were starting to roll in. But we at least got to take a quick dip in the pull and I read one chapter from my book.

Also, got to sport my new swimsuit. A mix and match from Target.

LOVE the top. No surprise, I want to go back and get more colors. Provides the support I need with the underwire and just the right amount of padding. Hate the push up swim tops. The same with bras. No need to have the mounds of padding.

Let the countdown to my four day holiday weekend commence...

Monthly Favorites: June

We are officially half way through the year. Crazy to think that in just a couple months we will be seeing fall decorations in the store. You know they start earlier and earlier each year.

Okay, back to this month's favorites...

Coco-Roons. I have been trying for healthier options to satisfy my sweet tooth. I came across this while shopping one day in Wholefoods. Umm, delicious. It's the perfect amount of sweetness. They have them in different flavors. We've tried Maple Syrup and Lemon. Both have been good. This time we got Cacao Nibs. Looking for to trying that.

Hint Water. I learned about this from various fitness bloggers who raved about it. You can see all the good things about it in theThey were on sale three for $4 the other day at Wholefoods so I bought a few flavors. Very impressed. Water with a hint of flavor.

Almay lipgloss. I bought this a couple weeks ago along with some other Almay products. Okay, confession. I bought them because Carrie Underwood is now their spokes person and well, I heart Carrie. Sadly, I wasn't in love with the other products. They are those eye color enhancing shadow trios, liner and mascara. Color pay off isn't that great. They were shimmery so when I washed at night there was glitter all over my face. The lip gloss I do like. A very natural color which I appreciate.

FIFA World Cup. Have you been following it? I have been so sucked in to it. I am not a soccer fan but the energy of it all is addicting. Although, watching this has reminded me of why I don't follow sports. I get way too emotional during the game. USA v. Portugal game. Those last 15 seconds?! UGHHHH. Brought back memories of when the Cleveland Indians would get to the World Series and lose. Same thing with the Tampa Bay Rays who would get to the World Series and screw up. I would get so upset and decided I just need to stop following it. But hey, World Cup only happens every 4 years. I think I can handle this. Looking forward to the USA v Belgium game on Monday. GO TEAM USA!

Celebrating the small victories.

This week has been a tough one for me emotionally. I go through these ups and downs where I am strong in the Lord and confident in His promises over my life and health. Then other times, like this week, where I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. Just when I feel like, I've had enough stuff to deal with and just need a break... More bad news comes my way.

In the midst of the crappy stuff going on, God still has a way of showing me He is there.

I went to the gym today to do my 30 minute walk of the treadmill. I have some hip problems so I typically stick to walking on the treadmill or the elliptical. Which this usually bugs me because I would love to be able to run. I wish I could do 5ks, half marathons etc.

Well, for whatever reason, I challenged myself to try to jog. The goal was five minutes. Five turned into ten which turned into fifteen. I was too happy for words! I can't remember the last time I was able to jog for more than two minutes without having pain shoot through my leg from my hip.

This small victory gave me hope. I have so needed that lately. God knew I needed that.

OOTD: Polka Dots and Ruffles/ Navy Blazer and Pixie Pants

On Wednesday, we had global leadership in town, so I wanted to dress a little nicer for the occassion. I wore the ruffled shirt and flared skirt I wore for my job interview. I receveid so many compliments for this outfit! I ruffles and flares give it a feminine touch.

I bought both pieces from NY&Co. Shoes are 9 & Co from JCPenneys. I have a blazer that went with the outfit which I am happy I didn't wear. We had dinner that evening at a near by hotel and the AC was broken. You do NOT want this happening during the summer months. It was HORRIBLE. I was so uncomfortable and wanted to go home. Felt like I was in an oven.

Aside from the AC problem, the dinner was great and the views were beautiful. I took a couple shots from the balcony.

As you can probably tell, I stayed far away from the edge. We were on like the 15th floor. This girl does not do heights.

Yesterday, we were having an all day meeting in one of the training rooms which is always freezing. I made sure to skip the skirts/dresses and go for something with more coverage.

This navy blazer I got years ago from Charlotte Russe. It used to be fitted on me and now it's a little on the big side but I can't bare to part with it. With it, I wore my second pair of pixie pants that I raved about in this post. I will went back, last weekend I think and bought to more pairs with the coupon I had. Seriously, love these pants. Shoes are Michael Kors. A wedding anniversary gift from the Mr. since Year 3 is leather.

I look tired in that pic. And I was! This week has been a very long week since we had to go into the office four times and they have been long days. Plus, I've been a little emotional this week. Needless to say, very ready for the weekend!

OOTD: LBD - Work Edition

Second outfit of the day post. BOOM!

I went shopping the past weekend, so I'm inspired.

Yesterday I wore this little black dress and got all sorts of compliments.

Another find from Kohls. Part of the ELLE line. Seriously, so comfortable, except for I froze in the office. Shoes are Bandolino from TJ Maxx. I am a big fan of wedges. So much easier to walk in than pumps.

There was this statement necklace at Kohl's that would have looking great with this dress. I held off on buying this time but will get it next time using my Kohl's cash.

OOTD: Coral and Greige

So I recently discovered that there is a floor length mirror in the Maternity Room on my floor in the office. This is great cause now I can check myself to make sure everything is in order. Seriously, why is there not one in the bathroom?? Also, perfect to takes OOTD pictures. Not the greatest lighting, but it will suffice.

Clearly, still learning how to take pictures of myself. Not sure how other girls manage to do this and look natural. I look awkward. I attempted one where I was looking into the mirror and smiling. Yeah, no. Will stick with the I am staring at my phone look.

I got this outfit this past weekend from Kohls. Dress was on sale for $17 and cardigan for $15. Hard to see in the pictures but there are coral accents that match the cardigan. The cardigan is a necessity in the office because it gets cold! Wedges are BCBG that I bought at TJ Maxx some time ago. Badge compliments of my office. So ridiculous.

Meal Plan: Week 2

It's the start of a new week and I am in the office today. Boo.

This week's meal plan is shorter because the Mr. and I have a movie and dinner date with another fantastic couple on Tuesday. Then I have a work dinner to attend on Wednesday. So I only needed to plan three meals really. The Mr. can usually throw something today easily and doesn't need a planned meal. Also, there wasn't much prep work to do yesterday for these meals which was great. Gave us extra time to watch the US v. Portugal soccer game. Which UGH... let me not get started on that.

Last Tuesday, I thought it would be fun to document my meals through pictures as well. I will admit, I am one of those people that takes pictures of their meals and post it on Facebook, Instagram etc. No shame. I love food.
So here are the pics of some of the meals from last week.

Top fave meals was the Chicken Sausage & Sweet Potato and the Turkey Taco Chili. Delicious! I topped the chili with greek yogurt. So good! Always heard that it was a good alternative for sour cream and didn't believe it. Now I am a believer.

Summer Bucket List 2014.

Happy first day of SUMMER! Although, technically, today is the first day of summer, it has seriously felt like summer for the past couple months. Don't be fooled by people when they say Florida weather amazing. Reality is.... it's hot and humid eleven months out of the year. I can feel my face melting while walking from the front door to the car. Awesome.

I'm sure most of my summer will be spent indoors with the AC. But, to not be a total summer grinch, I did want to I make a small bucket list for summer fun.

Tubing down a river.
Make healthy popsicles.
Lay poolside and read a book.
Paint an abstract canvas painting.
Go on an evening boat ride.
Grill up some summer recipes.
Go to the beach.
Busch Garden Summer Night

Manageable, right? I like to set myself up for success.

Old Navy Pixie Pants

One thing you should about me is that when I find something I like, particularly, clothes. Those boyfriend tees from Target?

Yeah, I got multiples. #sorrynotsorry

Well, I recently discovered the Pixie pants from Old Navy. I mean, I've known about them for a while... have you seen the commercials with Amy Pohler? Hilarious!

Last week, I stopped by Old Navy to look for shorts and I decided to try on one of those pixie pants. Perfection. I immediately bought a black pair to use for work. Dressy enough to be business casual but can easily wear out on the weekends. It's an ankle length which is perfect for a short lady like me... Usually I have the toughest time looking for bottoms that aren't sweeping the floors. They are also fitted but since the material is a little thicker they don't show anything.

Bonus,  I have a coupon for $20 off your $50 purchase. I will be going back and getting some more colors!

Meal Plan: Week 1

So I am going to try something new. We shall see how this goes...

I'm going to start posting my weekly meal plans that I talked about doing in this post. I think it will be interesting to see how it changes over time and what new recipes I start to incorporate. I have been trying to do different dishes that I find online and cook books.

Also, I thought it could be beneficial to others to see what I come up with. I know it can be a struggle to come up with healthy meal ideas that are tasty and not repetitive.

Here you have my meal plan for this week...

For the most part, we stick to the set schedule but sometimes it changes. Having a game plan and prepping on Sundays have made the week easier. If you have meal ideas, please share with me!

My Fight Matters.

"Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you make the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." 1 Timothy 6:12

The current sermon series at our church is over the book of Timothy.

The title of last Sunday's sermon was "My Fight Matters". During the first portion, we went over the "before" the fight. Training and preparation involved etc. The second part stuck out to me a little more.

Who stays in the fight?

Those who have a life changing encounter with Jesus. This can be in various ways. Each experience is different. One being those who have a life changing experience that pulls them closer to God. I can say, that is what is happening to me now. In the past month, my relationship with God has increased ten fold. I find myself gripping to His word over my life and desiring to be in His presence more than ever. That is where I find peace. That is where I can cast my worries at His feet and know He hears my cry. Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

So easy to let life's experiences bring you down and make you want to give up. On God. On yourself. But you have to continue. Press forward. You have to know that YOU are worth the fight. You can get through it with God on your side. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." When you realize that you are worth fighting for, you fight for your life.

That is what I have learned these past weeks. Really a battlefield of the mind. Sometimes your mind can be your worst enemy. But I must stay steadfast and rely on the Lord. Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you." Not always easy, but possible.

30 Minutes a Day.

Last night the Mr. and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. Weather was cool and breezy. Just something about being outdoors that is refreshing and peaceful.

Yes, we have matching shoes. #twinning

The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least five times a week for a total of 150. So, I've made a goal to do some type of physical activity at least 30 minutes a day. Whether its walking, swimming, biking or doing work out videos.

An added bonus, the company I work for is a huge advocate for your health and being active. We have a program in which you get points when you do some type of physical activity. Five points each activity, up to four activities a month. Each point is worth a dollar. So that alone is $20 a month for being active! I am up to 55 points now. My goal is to save up enough points to get an Amazon gift card to purchase this Polar watch. Almost there.

Also, the husband and I have been tossing around the idea of purchasing a treadmill. Walking outdoors is usually tricky with Florida weather, either it's to hot outside or there is rainy season. We recently got rid of a desk we had on the first floor which opened up the perfect space for a treadmill. Although we currently have gym memberships, we honestly go to do cardio only. I don't really do classes or strength training... basically because I'm to intimidated to do that in front of people. So it would make sense to save the money we are putting towards the memberships and just have a treadmill at home. The convenience of being able to do it at home any time is awesome.

I am also planning to make space in my girl cave to do workout videos, yoga, and some strength training. Just some more motivation to hurry and get that room done!

Outlet Mall Retail Therapy.

This past weekend I had an outlet mall shopping date with the bff. Was in need of some retail therapy. I may have done a little damage to the bank account while there, but well worth it.

We stopped by the Coach store and was pleasantly surprised when we were handed a coupon for 50% off your entire purchase.

Even if I had no intentions of purchasing anything there, I needed to take advantage of the great deal! The husband would probably say differently. Men just don't understand.

One hour later, we made our purchases. Yes, it took us like an hour to figure out what we wanted to get. Ha. I decided on a pair of new sun glasses and a purse.

Now, I am typically not one to spend anything over $5 for sunglasses because I am notorious for losing or scratching the lense. But I saw these, and it was love at first sight. I knew they had to be mine and I would take could care of them.

I browsed through all the purses and this beauty caught my eye. Thought it was the perfect summer purse. Love the color and soft leather material. The pink inside screamed me, of course.

Then I went to the Fossil store and bought the tortoise shell watch I've been wanting since this post. This is originally what I had planned to purchase at the outlet mall, just got a little side tracked. So happy that I finally got it.

After leaving the outlet mall and returned to my car. I stopped by a christian bookstore in the area to buy some new books. I don't have a christian bookstore near me, so wanted to take advantage of the opportunity. Also, wanted to buy the Jesus Calling devotional that I have been hearing so much about.

There was a Payless Shoestore next to the christian bookstore, so I stopped to look around and found these little guys!

I have really been loving the "anchor" theme lately. Thought they were cute for the casual summer days.

There you have it. My little shopping haul over the weekend.

Here's My Heart.

This morning we sang this song during worship and it was just what I needed to here. My declaration to God and His over my life. My heart is His. His word is true.

I have been having a really tough time, lately, in not getting discouraged with what I hear doctor's and other certified health specialists say about my health. I know they have to say these things based on scientific facts and their knowledge. I need to know these things for my awareness and what I need to do to prevent "worse case scenarios". I get it. But sometimes, I just don't want to hear it. It terrifies me, to be frank. It makes me feel like my future is dim. My life has a label. I'm defective.

But God's truth over my life is the opposite. This lyrics in this song lists it so perfectly.

Here's my heart Lord
Here's my heart Lord
Here's my heart Lord
Speak what is true

'Cause I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I'm made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

Cause You are strong, You are sure
You are life, You endure
You are good, always true
You are light breaking through

You are more than enough
You are here, You are love
You are hope, You are grace
You're all I have, You're everything

So glad that the worship team played this song today. Truly what I needed to hear.
