Disney Port Orleans - French Quarter

We just came back from spending the weekend at Disney. The Mr. planned a weekend getaway for us since we weren't really going anywhere for our winter break. We stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter resort. First time I've ever been there and happy that he chose this resort. Brought back memories of our trip to New Orleans a couple years ago.

The Port Orleans resort has two parts, French Quarter and Riverside which are in walking distance to each other. One thing I really enjoyed about this resort is it's proximity to Disney Springs. We weren't really interested in going to any of the parks and dealing with crowds, but we did want to go to Disney Springs. We were able to take a riverboat from our resort to Disney Springs meaning we didn't need to step foot in our car the entire stay. I really appreciated this because I find Disney to be the most confusing place to drive around in.

Our first evening there, the Mr. had made dinner reservations at the Boathouse and then he got tickets to see La Nouba. I have never seen a Cirque de Soleil show and was excited to see it. It was such a good show. I held my breathe for about ninety percent of the show.

The next day, we slept in, had breakfast at the resort and then walked over the Riverside to rent a two seater surrey bike. We had a blast riding this bike! Lots of laughs and a couple huffing and puffing uphill.

After bike riding, we went back to our room to freshen up and headed over to Disney Springs for lunch. We tried out the food trucks and stopped by Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Soda Shop for something sweet.

That evening, I made reservation at Boatwright's Dining Hall, a restaurant at the Riverside resort. After dinner we walked back to our resort and watched Cinderella on the lawn.

The next morning, we packed up, checked out and drove over to the Grand Floridian for breakfast with Disney characters.

It was a great weekend and nice to getaway for a bit. I hope to be able to go back soon.

Gingerbread House 2015

This morning we decorated our Gingerbread House. Last night we built the house itself to give it plenty of time to set. The Mr. came up with the design and did the decorating. I was in charge of the icing.

Next year I want to do a village!

Christmas Tea

Today was the first day of our eleven day holiday break from work. Ha-le-lu-yah! I was seriously starting to lose my mind this last week and was in desperate need of a break away from work.

Our first activity to kick off the break and celebrate the season was to have tea at our fave tea room, Royal Tea Room.

How precious are the desserts?! The ugly sweater. I die.

This evening we decided to roast some chestnuts. The last time I had chestnuts was when I was child and I really have no idea why it's taken me so long to have them again! They are so yummy! A bizzo to de-shell but worth the efforts. A definite Christmas tradition from now on.

Next on the activities list is decorating a Gingerbread House!

Victorian Christmas Stroll

Today we went and had brunch at my fave, The Oxford Exchange, and then walked over to the Plant Museum on the University of Tampa's campus to tour the Victorian Christmas Stroll.

Each room had a Christmas tree that was decorated to the theme of the room. Here are some close up pics of some of the trees.

The tea cup tree was one of my faves because I am a big fan of high tea.

We wanted to do this last year and had to cut our plans short due to a family emergency, so I was happy that we were able to do it today. The weather was also cooler making it feel a little more like Christmas.

Amicalola Falls 2015

A couple weekends ago, the Mr and I took our annual Fall road trip up north to see the fall foliage.

While doing some research for a place to stay, I came across Amicalola Falls Lodge. The picture on the website showed it on top of a mountain with the perfect view of the trees and mountains. Since we weren't taking the pups with us, we were able to stay in a lodge without worries of them barking and disrupting other guests. So we planned a little weekend getaway.

I was so happy with this place. As soon as you walk through the entrance you are greeted with these ginormous windows and breathtaking view. By the way, the same beautiful view we had from our room! The foyer had a cozy cabin feel to it. Right outside the main common area, there is a balcony with seating that I enjoyed relaxing at after breakfast.

A photo op with the huge stuffed teady bear was a must.

After breakfast, we headed over to the falls to do the trail. From the lodge, we started at the top of the falls and then made our way down. Then had to trek back up.

We were a couple hours away from Asheville, NC and planned a day trip there. Another plus of not having the pups with us! We planned a horse backing riding session and then a roof top tour. A couple moments of anxiety for this girl who isn't the biggest fan of heights, but overall a nice experience!

We had lunch at Blue Ridge and enjoyed some coffee and dessert and this cute bank turned coffee shop.

Yes, that is a box of cupcakes that we got from the cupcake shop. Don't judge.

The weather was perfect. A nice reprieve from this hot Florida weather for sure. I was able to wear long sleeve shirts and boots without looking absolutely ridiculous.

Seeing these pictures is making me wish I were back!

Marley Lilly Flash Sale

This morning while going through my Facebook feed, I saw that Marley Lilly had a flash sale going on now (through October 7th). I took a look at the sale and saw some items that I wanted, so I had a little impromptu shopping spree.

I always see gals with the cutest collection of monogrammed clothing/accessories and now excited to start my own little collection.

Not the most exciting order, I'll admit, but I wanted to get items/colors that I know I will get good use out of for now. That fleece jacket will come to good use for the winter! Usually all you need for Florida winters.

My order total was over $50 so I get a free long sleeved tee shirt. Nothing too amazing, but hey, I welcome free gifts.

Can't wait for my package to arrive!

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 20 | Guilty Pleasures

I am a die hard Twilight fan. #teamEdward When I was first introduced to Twilight, back when the movie came out, I would scoff at those people that were obsessed with a "vampire/wolf" movie. Did not care to hear about it. Then one day, I was bored at home flipping through on-demand and saw that Twilight was available to order and nothing else was appealing, so I gave it a shot. After watching the movie, I told my friends that the story wasn't that bad. The acting however.... Honestly, the next day my friend brought me the book to read and the rest was history. I read the four books in a week and a half. That was unheard of in my life. Any time a movie premiered in theaters, my girlfriends would make a night of it. I have a Twilight playlist on my iTunes. If this movie is on TV, I am glued to it.

Cute office supplies/stationary. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I have a slight obsession. It seriously makes me so happy to see cute office supplies and stationary. Office Depot is my "toy store" and I can easily spend an hour there. I love to follow IGers that post cute stationary stuff.

Retail therapy. I love shopping. It used to be really bad when I was younger because it led me to have some pretty bad credit card debt. After I worked hard to pay that debt off, I've learned to shop responsibly.

Sweets. This is a weakness of mine. My sweet tooth can get the best of me sometimes.

Novelas (spanish soap operas). I watched my first novela (Dos Mujeres Un Camino) back when I was in elementary school. I would watch novelas, drink cafe con leche and eat Vicky crackers. Truth be told, this is really how I learned spanish. Growing up I was always watching novelas. For a while I stopped watching them because they started being too cheesy and silly. I like the more serious kinds, especially those based in older time periods like Amor Real and Pasion.

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 19 | The Best Day Ever

March 27, 2011.

The day I made a promise to this man, in front of our closest family and friends, that I would do life with him forever. That day was everything I could have wanted and more. We had both the ceremony and reception at this Inn that had the vintage look and feel we were wanting for our wedding.

Since that perfect day, life with him has been full of laughter and fun. Seriously, he makes marriage easy. I am one lucky gal.

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 17 | Latest Obsession

Guys, I have fallen hard, head over heels, for Kate Spade everything. I may peruse the website on a daily basis and swoon over many of the items there. My wishlist is never ending...

I recently went to the outlet and purchased a purse for the Fall.

So happy I went with this purse because I was torn between a couple of them. I knew I wanted something that wasn't as structured and I wanted a crossbody. The wide strap makes it so comfortable to carry!

Can we talk about the collab with Anna Kendrick? I so enjoy these little videos she makes!

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 16 | Real vs Online

For me, what you see is what you get. This is both online and in person. I don't pretend to be someone that I'm not. I am past that stage in my life of trying to be the person that someone wants me to be. That's exhausting. I have grown to be happy and proud for the person that I am. In the end, that is what matters.

Now do I share everything about my life on the internet? No. For several reasons...

One, I am a private person. There are things that I don't share with many except for close family/friends. I am not that person that posts a status update on Facebook every two hours. Just, no.

Two, once it's on the internet, it stays on the internet. Not that I have much to hide but don't ever think that employers or other people don't search for you on the online space. They do.

Three, there can be some shady people out there. I am not going to divulge enough details that some random person can track me down. Nuff, said.

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 15 | What's in my (work) bag?

Michael Kors Bag - When I got my promotion, I decided to reward myself with a "nice" bag. I purchased this bag from the Michael Kors outlet and it has worked great for me. I am able to fit my laptop and other essentials easily. The material is durable and easy to clean. The wide straps help not to cut the circulation in my arms when carrying everything around. Also, the side compartments help me to easily organize some of my smaller items.

Notebook - I am a write things down person. I always like to carry a notebook to meetings and have something to jot down notes if on a call.

Pencil Case - This is just a makeup bag from Victoria's Secret that I am using to store smaller "tech" items such as mouse, ear phones, cables, etc.

Work Badge

Kate Spade Wallet and Business Card Holder (Always good to have your business cards with you!)

Hand lotion/Dior Lipgloss/Extra Gum/iPhone 5/Swarovski Pen/Work Laptop

(Not shown in picture) Planner - I am currently using this planner. It's the collab of The Day Designer with Blue Sky Planners that was available at Target. I love that each day has an hourly schedule and a to-do list. Type A's dreams come true!

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 14 | Five Books

I've read these five books at some point in my life and they are books that I have made some impact on me.

The Purpose Drive Life - I read this book years ago and remember that it was such an inspirational book. I actually think I should re-read it again.

The Total Money Makeover - I recommend this book to any adult. So important to be financially responsible and understand how to wisely manage your money.

The Five Love Languages - If you are in a relationship, I highly recommend this book. The Mr. and I read this book together and it really helped us understand how each us show and receive love.

Lean In - As a young female professional, this book was so encouraging and enlightening. I took away so many tidbits from this book and have put it into practice in my career.

Unbroken - This is probably the only non-self help book in the list. The older I get, the more I want to learn and read about history. This book stirred so many emotions in me while reading it. I have so much respect for those who fought and continue to fight for our country and our freedom.
